JOB DESCRIPTION
Executive Director

JOB TITLE: Chamber Executive Director

JOB STATUS: Exempt (Salaried)

Job Summary: In accordance with the chamber's By-Laws, Article IX, Para. 1 and Article IX, Para. 2, the Executive Director of the Chamber shall devote the necessary time to the Chamber's management and shall serve for such period and shall be paid such salary as the Board of Directors shall determine. The Executive Director shall be the authorized representative of the Board of Directors and officers in the administration of the Chamber's policies, the conduct of its business and management of its properties. It shall be the Executive Director's job to advise the members and officers of any committees, divisions or other Chamber groups as well as any other persons or groups regarding the Chamber policy in any controversial matters. The Executive Director shall have full control of employees of the Chamber and authority to assign their duties. The Executive Director shall recommend compensation for employees to the Executive Committee, who shall establish the salaries. The Executive Director shall exercise the highest degree of sound judgment in regard to all duties and continually review his/her work to ensure accuracy, timeliness and overall quality

Primary Duties and Responsibilities of the Executive Director:

To increase economic opportunities through activities that improves the business climate and quality of life in Webb City.

Accountabilities are to:

•  Represent Chamber/City with other local and regional economic development and related organizations.

•  Establish relationships and maintain liaison with federal, state, MoDot and county officials. Attend city council and county commission meetings relative to Webb City economic development.

•  Support the City's economic development director in developing and implementing a plan for business expansion and retention with the purpose of maintaining and creating additional jobs in Webb City.

•  Maintain a comprehensive statistical data base for Webb City containing information necessary for business and industrial development.

•  Establish a dedicated revenue stream for the purpose of financing economic development strategic and planning goals by researching and developing outside sources of capital, i.e. state programs, grants and tax incentives.

•  Prepare a budget each year for the approved economic plan to be included in the Chamber's annual budget.

•  Provide quarterly written reports to the Chamber Board of Directors and the City of Webb City as set forth in the Agreement between the City and the Chamber, or as requested by either party, to include, but not limited to:

•  Promotion and marketing of the Webb City area.

•  Assisting existing employers to become more competitive.

•  Attracting new employers within the Webb City area.

•  Developing new strategies for capturing more local consumer dollars.

•  Attract new membership to the Chamber and retain existing members.

Other Duties and Responsibilities of the Executive Director:

•  Oversee the daily activities of the office and staff, to include safekeeping of the records of funds, maintaining the filing and computer systems.

•  Respect guidelines of confidentiality, privacy and respect for the staff, membership and community of Webb City.

•  Prepare and disseminate news releases, advertisements, and notices of chamber events.

•  Arrange for all general membership and Board meetings.

•  Formulate and presents ideas for fulfilling the Chamber's mission.

•  Administer the annual election of Board members and officers and approval of By-Laws revisions.

•  Assist the Board of Directors in all aspects of the operation of the chamber.

Job Specifications: Dedication to the City of Webb City and the Chamber organization is a must. Requires a minimum of a high school education with college degree beneficial. Requires public speaking ability, courteous personality, excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, and the ability to recruit volunteers, solicit donations and work well with others. A professional demeanor and use of appropriate, tactful language in all communications in all activities is a must. A well-groomed and appropriately attired personal appearance is required.
