Bradbury-Bishop Deli
201 N Main Street
Webb City, MO 64870
417-673-4047
The intersection of Main and Daugherty in Webb City is where the Chamber’s
Christmas Parade turns the corner to proceed south on Main Street, and where the
Mining Days Parade turn left toward the high school. It’s the corner where westward
bound Route 66 travelers turn south and where those heading east make the right hand
turn toward Carterville. It’s the corner where the famous Route 66 mural by John
Biggs graces the eastern face of Bruner’s Pharmacy. And it’s the corner where locals
and visitors alike can step back into the 1950’s when they visit the historic Bradbury Bishop Deli.
Whether it’s the ambience created by the original brick walls, the tin ceiling,
and the original soda fountain installed in the first half of the last century, or the music
from the juke box, a meal at the Deli is a journey back in time to the “Happy Days” of
the 50’s and 60’s. The menu offers breakfast all day – featuring the Deli’s signature
hash browns, – a lunch of traditional deli-style sandwiches and burgers, and hearty
dinner specials. And we shouldn’t forget the old-fashioned phosphates, sodas, milk
shakes, sundaes, and banana splits. The Deli opens every morning Monday through
Saturday at 6:00 am and serves until 8:00 pm Thursday and Friday, and until 2:00 pm Saturdays.
The second Saturday of every month from April through October adds yet
another dimension to the nostalgia of the Deli and the historic downtown area when
classic cars, muscle cars, and street rods, line Main Street for the Webb City – Route
66 Cruise Nights. Whether you are showing a car or just strolling down the street, it’s
great family fun to see the cars, listen to the DJ, and visit with some of the finest people in the world.
Under the ownership of Lou and Ana Gutheil since 2001, the Deli has nearly
become an institution in downtown Webb City. Chances are your first visit to the Deli
won’t be your last, and you’ll soon become a regular as so many others have over the
years. Perhaps you’ll meet some gray haired gentleman who will tell you how he was
a soda jerk behind that very soda fountain when he was a lad. Or, you might see a
senior citizen and his bride sipping a milkshake together as they recall their first date at that very same soda fountain. Bradbury Bishop Deli, where you come for a meal and take home a memory.
